Cat Cat Village – Sapa

Cat Cat Village is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Sapa. After a 2 km journey from Sapa town, tourists will arrive at the village to explore the beauty of H’Mong people's life. The first impression upon arrival is the serene scene, with traditional three-compartment wooden houses. The residents live together and farm near their homes, fostering a close-knit community within the village.



Cat Cat Village also preserves traditional handicrafts such as cotton, linen, and weaving. The brocade products here are highly valued for their sophistication and rich decorative motifs, especially the indigo dyeing technique of the H’Mong people. After dyeing, the fabric is rolled on a round log on a flat stone with waxed beeswax. Visitors also have the opportunity to purchase intricate and beautiful silver jewelry made by local artisans.

To gain a deeper understanding of the life and culture of the local people, you can spend a night in the village and enjoy an intimate feast with dishes rich in mountain flavors, such as smoked meat, corn wine, corn tortillas, and truncated omelets. If you're lucky, you may witness one of the traditional festivals of the Mong ethnic group, such as the "wife-pulling" ceremony or the "bucket" festival. These rare rituals remain unchanged and are not found in other regions.
